This Privacy Policy describes how VizAmp ("we", "us", or "our") processes your personal information and respects your privacy when you use the VizAmp macOS application and website (vizamp.soymilkisok.com).
1. Local Audio Processing and Privacy
VizAmp is designed with privacy as a foundational, non-negotiable principle. The application operates entirely locally and offline on your Mac. We do not capture, record, save, or transmit your audio streams, music, microphone input, or visual configurations to external servers.
- Real-time Analysis: All audio frequency analysis is done in active memory using the Web Audio API and WebGL shader pipelines. Once analyzed and rendered to the visualizer canvas, the data frames are discarded.
- Custom Shaders: Your custom `.macviz` shaders are loaded and parsed locally from your computer's storage (`~/user-shaders/` or your custom shaders directory).
2. macOS System Permissions
To function as a menu bar loopback visualizer, VizAmp requests specific system permissions:
- Audio Input (Microphone): macOS sandboxing requires microphone access to read audio streams from input hardware. When you configure system loopback (using tools like BlackHole), macOS treats the virtual sound card loopback stream as a microphone. VizAmp uses this permission solely to capture this loopback feed for rendering. No microphone inputs are ever recorded or shared.
3. Information Collected on the Website
Website Telemetry: When you visit our website (vizamp.soymilkisok.com), we may use basic, anonymized cookies and telemetry tools (such as server logs) to assess page visits, screen resolutions, and general referral links. This allows us to optimize the website layout. No website analysis tools link back to your local macOS application usage.
4. Data Sharing and Zero Telemetry
VizAmp contains **no user analytics, telemetry frameworks, or automatic crash reporting modules** within the desktop application. There is no personal data collected by the application, meaning we have nothing to sell, share, disclose, or rent to third parties.
5. Application Security
By executing all code locally and avoiding external cloud sync dependencies, VizAmp maintains a minimized attack surface. We rely on native macOS sandbox policies and standard user-approved permissions to ensure that the code executes in a safe, controlled environment.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy occasionally to represent changes in the application or website. Any changes will be updated on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
